We had the threat of wet weather but it turned out to be a beautiful day. Unfortunately, it took 5 1/2 hour to play.

Pat Hughes tamed the course with a gross score of 71 and net 66. This is the second year in a row that he had the same gross and net score. No one else may like the course but Pat has it in the schedule every year. Rich Hoag, Vic Ochoa, Mel Cornwell, and Gale King were the only other net par or better shooters. Chad 'Foot Long' Visessung had almost holed out his tee shot on #6, missing by a foot. And then again, missing the hole by a foot with the putt. Finally it fell six inches for par. Jack Chunhacha was offered a job as a groundskeeper, as he did so well raking all the sand on #14. Gary Weitzman bettered his score on #1 from last year. He had a 16 last year and birdied it this year. Talk about improvement.

March 20, 2010 Upcoming SOS event at Redhawk

The March event on Saturday March 20th will be held at Redhawk Golf Course in Temecula and is a low net tournament. First tee time is 9 AM. There is a closest to the pin contest on all par 3's. We will have winners for Net to three places in each flight.

Included with the cost is golf, prize fund, cart, range balls and lunch consisting of a deli wrap, chips and fountain soda.

DEADLINE: March 13th. Sign up by then or don't play!

Defending champion is Gale King who shot a net 69.

This is also the 3rd and last round of match play qualifying. There are three qualifing rounds. Just let Pat or Rich know and add the $10 match play entry fee to your check for the Redhawk tournament.

This tournament will be effected by the mid-month index update.

April 24, 2010 Upcoming SOS event at SCGA Members Course in Murietta

The April event on Saturday April 24th will be held at the SCGA Members Course in Murietta and is a low net tournament. First tee time is 9 AM. There is a closest to the pin contest on all par 3's. We will have winners for Net to three places in each flight.

Defending champion is Rob Kay who shot a net 68.

This is the 1st round of match play. If you are unable to play on this day, be sure to get in touch with your opponent and schedule something before the Monday preceding our event at Brookside. See 2010 Match Play Rules

Congratulations to Chris Hibler, Mac Whiting, Rich Hoag, Greg Smiley, Rob Kay, Matt Deatherage, Bob Sanders, Jim Hagaman, Don Helton, Dan Fulkerson , and Vipul Patel for being the most improved players in the first two weeks of February. There were only 11 improved players total for this period out of 115!

Monthly club statistics from the SCGA is in a different format and will take some time to translate. Stay tuned.
